Naomi Duerr
Naomi Duerr - Project Director
Ms. Duerr has been a professional Geologist since 1989. Her role as Director of the Truckee River Flood Project encompasses an $1.6 billion interagency effort to reduce flooding damages, improve recreation, and restore the Truckee River's ecosystem. Ms. Duerr's career has focused on water management, water allocation, environmental regulation, and ecosystem restoration, primarily in Nevada and Florida. She was the State Water Planner for Nevada for 7 years, producing the State Water Plan (Selected as the national Most Notable Government document for the Year 2000) and initiating the state flood management program, for which she received Nevada's highest environmental award. Mineral exploration was a focus earlier in her career.
Ms. Duerr is a frequent university lecturer and public speaker. She holds a B.S. in Geology from the Mackay School of Mines, UNR and an Master's of Public Administration and Policy (M.P.A.-Water Policy), also from UNR.
