Fly-over of the Truckee River
The Truckee River Flood Project's Living River Plan is a multi-faceted approach to flood protection. The Project will restore 50 miles of the river, protect aquatic and wildlife habitat, improve recreational opportunities along the river and protect thousands of homes, businesses, infrastructure and other public facilities from 117-year flood levels, saving millions annually in flood damage costs.
The end result is a Living River Plan that restores the river to a more natural state, improves fish passage, sustains wildlife, and a system that will help protect all Washoe County residents from damages caused by regular flooding.
